About Us

Pocket Libraries Foundation CLG is a registered non-profit company based in Nairobi, Kenya, dedicated to promoting literacy and cultivating a strong reading culture.

Pocket Libraries was started by two bookish dreamers as a passion project - a quiet space for book lovers to read and connect. We have grown into something bigger than those two imagined - a thriving community resource. Since opening our doors, we've been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support from readers of all ages, and we’re proud to have played a small part in encouraging a deeper love for books within our community.

Our library holds a diverse and ever-growing collection of over 2,000 unique titles, with a special focus on literature for children, tweens, and teens. We believe fostering a love for reading from a young age is key to nurturing curious, thoughtful, and informed individuals.

The first Pocket Libraries branch was opened in November 2023 and is located at Jaffery Sports Club on Naushad Merali Drive in Lavington, Nairobi, right next to the children's play area.

As a non-profit, Pocket Libraries reinvests all income directly into the library and its programs, with the goal of increasing access to books and creating engaging, inclusive reading spaces for the community.

Pocket Libraries is run with the dedicated assistance of an advisory board, comprised of members who excel remarkably in their respective fields. Their collective expertise and guidance are of immense value, providing direction and insights that are invaluable to the future vision and growth of Pocket Libraries.
